Learning approach

Curiosity leads. Educators listen.

The Mini Marvels approach combines child-led play with responsive guidance, carefully prepared materials, and space for children to revisit ideas.

Indoor learning space with books and hands-on materials

Invitations

Materials are arranged to spark interest without prescribing one correct result.

Provocations

A question, material, image, or experience encourages children to think in a new direction.

Inquiry

Children notice patterns, test ideas, ask questions, and communicate what they discover.

The educator's role

Observe, prepare, respond

Educators pay attention to what children are trying to understand. They adapt the environment, offer language and materials, and support safe participation without taking over the experience.

  • Notice interests and emerging questions
  • Offer multiple ways to participate
  • Support communication and collaboration
  • Document strengths-based observations
  • Prepare possible next invitations

What this approach avoids

Learning is not a ranking system

Mini Marvels does not frame young children through grades, peer rankings, percentile comparisons, behavioural risk scores, diagnoses, or automated developmental conclusions. Learning stories remain descriptive, strengths-based, and connected to real experiences.
